Installation
The in-ground pedestal is set in soil with concrete. The bolt-mounted pedestal fastens to existing concrete. See our Salsbury installation guides and our guide on how to install a curbside mailbox. Check with your local postmaster before installing.
Shipping and returns
- Orders are processed within 24 hours, Monday to Friday, and ship direct from the manufacturer. Tracking is emailed when it ships.
- Ships direct from Salsbury Industries. Ask us for the current lead time.
- Returnable within 30 days of delivery if unused, not assembled or installed, and in all original packaging. Request an RGA number first. You pay return shipping, and a 20% restocking fee for residential orders applies.
- Report damage or missing parts within 48 hours of delivery. If it arrives by LTL freight, note any damage on the bill of lading before you sign.

Frequently asked questions
How is a mail chest different from a roadside mailbox?
The mail chest is Salsbury's larger model: each one is 14.375" W x 17.25" H x 23" D, compared with 12.5" W x 13.625" H x 18.25" D for the roadside mailbox. See the double mailbox collection for the roadside version.
Is it USPS approved?
Yes. It is made to USPS-STD-7B specifications. Check with your local postmaster before installing.
Do the mail chests lock?
Yes. Each has locking front and rear access doors with 2 keys per lock. Mail goes in through a non-locking front panel.
In-ground or surface mount?
In-ground comes with the 4385 standard pedestal, set in soil with concrete. Surface mount comes with the 4365 bolt-mounted pedestal for existing concrete.
