Jayco Industries Standard Letter Locker

The Jayco Industries Standard Letter Locker is a multi-patented locking mailbox for homes and businesses. It is hand-welded and hand-assembled in the USA, and you build it to your needs: choose the metal, the lock level, front or rear access and the slot size. The locking retrieval door keeps mail safe until you collect it.

Options explained

• Incoming slot size: the standard 2 in slot is USPS approved. Custom heights from 1/4 in to 2 in are available; ask us which heights keep USPS approval before you order.
• Outgoing mail tray: keep it open, or have it blocked off if you do not send mail from the box.
• Post: sold separately. See the Jayco post for the Standard and Super Letter Locker. Surface mount posts include a base plate, top plate and mounting bolts, for existing concrete. In-ground posts are longer, come with a top plate only and are set in a concrete pour.

Installation

Mount the Letter Locker on a Jayco post, sold separately. Surface mount posts bolt to existing concrete and include mounting bolts. In-ground posts are set directly in the ground with a concrete pour, like a fence post. Check with your local postmaster before installing, since local rules on mailbox type and placement can vary.

Shipping and returns

• Ships direct from the manufacturer in California, usually within 2 to 3 weeks. Orders are processed within 24 hours, Monday to Friday, and tracking is emailed when your order ships.
• Built to your options and made to order. It cannot be returned, and the order cannot be cancelled once manufacturing starts, so please check your choices before you order.
• Open and inspect your order on arrival, and report damage or missing parts within 48 hours of delivery.

Is the Standard Letter Locker USPS approved?

Yes, with the standard 2 in high incoming slot. If you want a custom slot height, ask us whether it keeps USPS approval. Check with your local postmaster before installing, since local rules on mailbox type and placement can vary.

Which lock level do I need?

Level 1 is a USPS 5-pin cylinder lock with a stainless hook cam. Level 2 adds a Medeco deadbolt and an upgraded door. Level 3 uses a stronger stainless cam with the patented Claw Locking Mechanism. Level 4 combines the Medeco deadbolt with the Claw Locking Mechanism.

Which material should I choose?

Galvanneal steel is the standard and most popular choice. Aluminum resists rust in moist climates. Heavy Duty 10 gauge steel is for high-crime areas. Stainless steel is the most rust resistant and suits very damp or freezing climates.

Is a post included?

No. Posts are sold separately: see the Jayco post for the Standard and Super Letter Locker, in surface mount or in-ground lengths, aluminum or stainless steel.

What is the difference between front and rear access?

Front access puts the locking retrieval door on the front of the box, the same side as the mail slot. Rear access puts it on the back. Rear access costs more.

How long does it take to ship?

Each Letter Locker is built to your options. It ships from California, usually within 2 to 3 weeks, and we email tracking when it ships.
